We find ourselves in the midst of profound transformation, a transformation unlike anything human history has every witnessed. As science and new technologies have made possible a world free of want, these same wonders in the hands of the capitalists have meant only squalor, poverty and despair. All that we have known is changing or gone. All of society is being pulled into this process of destruction and transition to a new epoch based on the introduction of qualitatively new technologies, the rise of new classes and the necessity to align society with the needs of those developments.
The underlying causes for these changes are the growing polarization of wealth and poverty brought about by labor-replacing technology, the motion toward a global economic crisis, and the formation of a new class of dispossessed in the US and in the world. The stage is being set for world revolution.
As the US continues to aggressively impose its will on the world stage, it must crack down at home to guarantee the American people do not resist their plans. The capitalists must drive down the price of labor power of the American workers so they can compete globally, and they have to crush the response to do this. They must at all cost prevent the growing mass movement from achieving the political consciousness of the cause of their problems and the solution. Fascism is the only route for the capitalists to achieve their goals.
Labor-less production, the social destruction that is compelling the world’s millions into motion, and the profound threat these processes pose to private property relations is the epochal framework which is defining new forms of struggle which bear little relation to the past. The arising movement is taking shape in a struggle against a government that has enthroned the corporations and is rapidly divesting itself of any responsibility for society. This struggle is no longer about reform. It is for the political power to save humanity.
New forms of struggle and new leadership are arising. The people are starting to move. What they think and what they see as the possibilities of their actions will define which way society will go. The old forms of politics are breaking down. Leaders are emerging who not only want, but are beginning to recognize that they need, a different perspective and orientation.
The League of Revolutionaries for a New America is made up of people from all walks of life who are tied together by a common aim – the end of exploitation, the social ownership of the means of production and the distribution of products of society according to need. This program for the reorganization of society is the only way to end the ecological, cultural, and spiritual devastation spreading throughout society.
Revolution is not a single act, but is a process involving a series of stages, and unfolds in a discernible line of march. Revolutionaries must understand the goal and understand what must be done at every stage of the process. They think not only of the present, but know that what they do in the present must be directed toward providing for future stages. Revolutionaries ask such questions: What will it take to win? What is the correct strategy? What must we do today to prepare for tomorrow? What is our next step?
Change is upon us.
The only question is in whose interests will that change be.
